HID headlights are only to be used for off road vechiles such as for auto shows, Meet a trouper on the highway and shine the headlights in his eyes and see how fast he stops you and gives you a ticket and has the car impounded untill you change them back to legal ones.

Unless you buy them stolen, like a lot of people do, the HID lights will run you at least $800.

Any of the aftermarket bulbs you can buy won't give you the perfomance you think they will.

Sylvania makes some SilverStar headlamps that aren't too bad, but nothing will match the performance of true HID. Unless you get some auxiliary lamps that just have a ton of Watts, in which case it won't matter if they are HID or not. I have a set of PIAA 80 Series Headlamps on my truck. They are 135 watts in high beam mode, they are brigher than any HID lamp. But, it was almost $400 for the set.

2003 focus? couldn't be easier. the svt version had optional hids. so...just check ebay for some used ones. it gives you low cost, definate functionality because they were built for the focus, and ease of installation.
