I have a 1999 Ford Taurus which has been nothing but trouble. Can't afford a new car right now. So, yesterday I was driving it and the engine temp gauge started getting hot. Never reached all the way to the hot level. I drive it about 5 miles home. It cut off on me once and didn't want to start back, but it did. Ok, so, I drove it half a mile home after it started back. My husband checked it and the radiator has a crack in it, pouring water out. Haven't driven the car since, but now my service engine soon light is flashing and it's idling rough. I know the radiator needs replacing, but why is my light flashing and idling so bad? Any help would be appreciated. I had no idea the Taurus was such trouble!!!

people made songs just for you.with out fluid in it the sensors are going to light up the dash.if you over heated it will need a change of oil.maybe it already did.you shouldn't be running it without repairs it needs.reset the service soon.should be done after repairs....code scan it before you reset or the codes will be gone.the computer will have to relearn everything over From its base settings.autozone.com may have information you can relate too.

Why are you running the motor with a coolant leak? Just trying to blow the motor?

You may have a bad headgasket which would explain the radiator being cracked, the motor running bad, and overheating.
