Yes you can. The kits are available from most auto parts places.

It looks to me like most posters here are assuming that you want to put a 2009 electronic ignition (with its ECU et al) in your 73. Take a look at the following link to a Pertronix points to electronic conversion kit.

Yes it is you can go to the wrecking yard and find compatible parts from a newer engine or you can go the easy way and get yourself a Mallory Unitile or a petronix ignition. They make pointless ignition systems and they are fairly inexpensive. You can find them at Jegs.com or Summit racing online.

the fairly low cost thanks to inform if the earrings are undesirable is to have a compression try carried out on the engine. If the earrings do not seal the combustion chamber you'll lose pressue less than compression and leak it previous the earrings. you should actually have a cylinder leak down try carried out for the valves at the same time. Its nicely worth making an investment contained in the analysis fairly than spending money attempting to fix some thing severe. If the PCV valve is clogged from sludge the engine gained't vent the crankcase rigidity and it truly is going to rigidity the oil into the engine previous the piston earrings. that could want to nicely be the first element to regulate. nonetheless, if the vehicle is new to you, do the compression try and the cylinder leak down assessments. As a be conscious, the valve seals will in a good number of cases reason blue smoke once you decelerate and the throttle snaps close fairly than on acceleration or perhaps as reving the engine. wish that helps

The Pertronix kit is real easy to install, and not too expensive.

Dude, just go to the parts store and tell them you need a distributor for a '76 360. This was the first year of electronic ignition. Your next decision is if you want the Ford brain box or an aftermarket MSD system. The change is easy.

Yes it is possible. But dont try it yourself unless you have plenty mechanical experiences on vehicles. If you dont have any take it to a shop and have it done.

You would have to change the distributor, probably the crankshaft damper pulley, and a lot of the engine wiring, but yes, it could be done.

Many years ago, they used to sell Electronic Ignition converter kits, if you could find one of those, it would make the job much easier.

It's faster to change than changing points!

Grab a set from Pertonix:

http://www.pertronix.com/prod/ig/default.aspx

and you can have a pointless system in less than a half hour.

Fully reversable too.

You'll LOVE it.
