Twin I Beam = 2WD
Twin Traction Beam = 4WD
edit: I'll clarify, The Twin I Beam is a sort of independent front suspension. It was only available on 2WD models. 4WD models with either have a straight live axle up front or the TTB (Twin Traction Beam) which is largely a Dana 44 with hinge in the middle.

Technically the Twin I Beam are always 2wd. The vintage of truck determines whether it was available with the Twin Traction beam.
All light ford trucks from 1973 -1979 had Twin I Beam on 2wd, the 4wd were all solid front axles.
Starting in 1980 to 1996 the 2wd still were Twin I Beam and the 4wd were Twin Traction Beam.
For 1997 the F150 and light duty F250 changed platforms and went to a dual wish bone front suspension. The 250 HD and 350 carried on the old platform for 97 and 98.
In 1999 the new Super-Duty Platform was released and the twin-I-beam lived on in the 2wd F250HD and F350. The 4wd carried on with a revised solid axle that has been under the trucks since 1980.

We are talking about the twin I beam Fords from the 60's? The F-100 came in both 2 and 4 x 4 versions in short bed (stepside and full width) and long bed. If memory serves, the full width bed version was called the styleside. Finding one today at a decent price could be a chore as they are popular with collectors.
