Test continuity from wiring from the switch to the solenoid. Also check for good wiring connections to the starter and make sure engine block has a good ground to the battery. Also try tapping the starter with a small hammer. Even a new starter solenoid can be bad.

Being a 1986, i do no longer remember if it has an electric powered pump or a mechanical pump (engine pushed). even inspite of the undeniable fact that, i'm guessing mechanical because of the fact in many circumstances electric powered pumps "extreme" the technique after in basic terms some key turns. So, with that being pronounced..... Odds are, this is the mechanical gas pump. They positioned on out. The diaphragm that pumps can get a pin hollow, the pivot pin for the cam/rocker arm that runs the pump can positioned on and not furnish it complete stroke. verify the gasoline hoses, if any that connect with the pump. many times the hoses whilst they use speedy launch clamps, get leaks....risky on suction ingredient. Use the oftentimes used clamps that tighten. There additionally may be a pin hollow on the suction side, so it would "appropriate", even inspite of the undeniable fact that loose it fairly is appropriate over evening. this is corroded gasoline line..... replace your gasoline pump. I even have an previous forklift that has this disadvantage. by using the years, the pump diaphragm or the pivot pin positioned on it it in basic terms does no longer pump. A in basic terms precise pump will might desire to suck and fill very immediately, w/out having to apply added initiating fluid/gasoline. additionally, inspect your battery connections, generally a sluggish turning engine won't pump quickly additionally. be certain your carb for gasoline leaks additionally. by using the years, there are gaskets there that would leak. might desire to you smell gasoline whilst warm, odds are there's a weeping gasket.
