I have a 98 Ford F-150 with just over 118,000 miles on it. Recently I noticed when i would gun the throttle to get on the highway the battery light would come on above 2500-3000 rpms and go off once i got to crusing around 1800-1900 rpms. After a week or so this continued and now the light is just on constantly. Ive had the alternator and battery checked and both were fine, just the battery needed charged a little. But my curiosity comes in now, if the alternator is fine and working why isnt the battery charging? I just found it odd for both to be checked and be good but im still having issues. any one have any suggestions?

The alternator probably isn't working fine. The only test that matters is how it works while you're driving. They go bad at high rpms all the time.

If you want to be sure, stick a voltmeter on a cigarette lighter plug or somewhere and watch the voltage while you're driving.

Poor connection issue somewhere from alternator to battery circuit. Often linked to intermittent or broken wire to alternator.

An auto electrician is best bet and likely an new alternator.

pass to a autoparts save and function them to hook the scanner to your truck's pc and consider it out and that they are in a position to additionally turn it off besides. examine your battery cables and make confident they are tight and clean to be risk-free. O.ok.!!!
