I'm no car person, but I'm confused about this - is a Shelby Mustang something different than a regular Ford Mustang, or is it just another term for the same car?

The base Mustang comes with a 4.0L V6 with 210 hp and 240 lbs. of torque.

The Mustang GT is slightly more expensive and has a high performance 4.6L V8 producing 315 hp and 325 lbs. of torque. For 2011 Ford will scrap that engine and give it the 5.0L V8 giving it over 400 hp and 400 lbs. of torque, an 85 hp difference which will be a lot faster.

The Mustang GT500 Shelby is the Big Bertha. It features a 5.4L Supercharged V8 producing over 540 hp and 510 lbs. of torque.

So yes the Shelby is the fastest, most powerful, and expensive model of the Mustang. The Mustang GT is second, then the V6 is the least fastest, least powerful, and the cheapest.

You can tell the difference from the blacked-out grill, two big fog lights of the grill, and an aggressive lower/bumper grill.

They usually have racing stripes, features a Cobra insignia on the grill, side, and back, and a GT500 stripe on the lower side of the car.

The Shelby Mustang is a high performance variant of the Ford Mustang, built by Ford from 1968 through 1970. The 1965, 1966 and 1967 Shelbys' were a series of Ford Mustangs which were specially modified by Carroll Shelby's company and sold under the name Shelby GT with identification badges Shelby Cobra. From 1968 the model became the Shelby Cobra GT. The program was factory-sponsored by Ford to compete with the Corvette, also factory-sponsored by Chevrolet, neither of which could be built for the sales price charged. In 2007, following the introduction of the Fifth-generation Ford Mustang the Shelby nameplate was revived for new high performance versions of the Mustang.

Wow alright you prob have the answer already but here's some info. There are three main types of mustange: Base V6, Gt, and Shelby gt. Base V6 is no lie a nice car with 210 horsepower; which is decent for some, too little for others as far as muscle cars go. The Gt has 300 hp, and is about 10 grand more than v6. The shelby gt has 300-319 hp and is just a sweet car even a few thousand more than the gt. Now I'm planning on buying a nice used 2007-2008 v6 mustang for 10-15 grand, and i have a friend who has a 2010 chevy camero haha. Now i know his car is obviously the meaner machine but i might want a little more horsepower. So mine will have 210 hp but i will get a performance chip to boost it to 260. These chips are probably the cheapest way to boost hp. $70 for the chip http://slrmotorsports.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=257

not bad for 50 hp. hope this helps =)

The Shelby's are hot rodded from the garage, they start as regular Mustangs and then sent to wherever in Ca or NV. There they are partially disassembled and things like better brakes ans suspension parts are up graded and the engine tweaked. body scoops and do dads and of course the Carroll Shelby signature.

If you want a real rare older Mustang look for a Mustang 350H(urst), SCCA road race class ready

properly the regularly occurring sixty six might have everywhere from a quickly-6 engine as much as the 289. (302's weren't till sixty 8, i think.) and the Shelby's might often have severe overall performance 289's, which might incorporate a 4-barrel carb, elective automatic, transmission enhancements, brake enhancements, additionally the shelby's featured a fold down rear seat, and ford company blue engines. and in case you have been fortunate, you may get the G.T.350H with a Paxton supercharger. :P
